Alloa No 69 host ‘Hiram’s GT Wheels’

Some of the cyclists and support team from Hiram’s GT Wheels took part in an excellent first degree ceremony in the Lodge of Alloa No 69 on Thursday 21st March 2019.

RWM Norman Bridgeman welcomed a large deputation - described as a peloton by the inner guard - headed by Bro Andy Goodwin, IPM of Lodge Zetland No 391. Bro Goodwin was joined by his two fellow founder members of the health and charity group, Bro Alex Muir, PM of Lodge 793, and Bro Alex Dalgettie, Chaplain of Lodge 176. The cyclists have raised in excess of £40,000 from their tours of all the Stirlingshire Lodges and are already in training for another fundraising cycle from Falkirk to Glasgow to raise funds for Strathcarron Hospice and Erskine Hospital. Two reigning masters were also in the deputation RWM Archie Young Mackay of Lodge St Andrew (Denny & Loanhead) No 176 and RWM Richard Watson of Lodge Ladywell No 1474.

In addition to the cyclists, RWM Norman Bridgeman also welcomed a small deputation from the Provincial Grand Lodge of Stirlingshire headed by Bro Alan Leishman, Senior Provincial Grand Chaplain.

An excellent ceremony of initiation was conferred on one candidate who is pictured with the cyclists from Hiram’s GT Wheels and the Provincial Deputation.

The proceeds of a bumper raffle were shared between Strathcarron Hospice and a local Alloa charity of the RWM’s choice.
