The Provincial Grand Lodge of Stirlingshire |
Lodge Abercromby No. 531 has secured a stand at this
year’s Bridge of Allan Highland Games to promote Freemasonry within and
out-with the Province of Stirlingshire. The intention is to educate and
inform the general public that Freemasons are part of their community
and highlight the aims of Freemasonry and the charitable work that we do
both locally and nationally.
Lodge Abercromby No. 531 intend to follow this up
with a Lodge ‘Open Day’ that is planned to be both informative and
showcase the Lodge as an integral part of the community and as such a
valuable community asset.
We have encouraged and will continue to encourage
Sister Lodges within the Province to join us on the day as this event
attracts some 8000 visitors and competitors from all areas. Lodge
Abercromby will coordinate the event. It is expected that Sister Lodges
will supply appropriate information for their Lodge including where they
meet, when they meet and relevant contact details for any prospective
new members or groups or individuals wishing to use the Lodge premises
for private functions. The Lodge Secretary has agreed to forward a
questionnaire using the Provincial Grand Lodge contact listings. At
present a commitment to support the day has been received from Lodge
Ancient Stirling No. 30, The Lodge of Alloa No. 69, Lodge Ladywell No.
1474 and Lodge Bannockburn Bruce and thistle No. 312.
We will produce a handout/flyer containing relevant
information for each Lodge and invite any interested Sister Lodges to
have volunteers on the day to assist thus giving the stand a good mix
from within our Province and staggered throughout the day for maximum
effect.
The intention is to do some form of charitable
fundraising event on the day to raise funds for a nominated Charity (to
be agreed).
