Western District Masonic Bowling Association – 2012 Christison Trophy

Bro R Christison, PM of Lodge Ancient  Stirling No30, donated this trophy, to be played for annually among Masons in the Stirling area, in 1945.

Its purpose was to celebrate the victory of the Allies in World War II. The first competition took place in 1946 and the Annual Competition has been held for 65 of the 66 years of its existence.

Originally some 13 Lodges were eligible to take part (30, 69, 76, 176, 312, 531, 771, 780, 782, 850, 911, 1419, 1483). Sadly, over the last few years the number of Lodges participating has gradually fallen off as members become older and the interest in bowling is not reflected by the younger members of Lodges.

Indeed the 2012 competition saw the withdrawal of Denny and Bannockburn Lodges due to their inability to field four teams of triples.

The 2012 Competition was however played at Riverside Bowling Club, Stirling and Polmaise  Bowling Club, Fallin on Sunday 20th May 2015 in glorious sunshine when four Lodges took part (30, 69, 911 and 1483).

Lodge Dolphin No. 911 ran out winners with The Lodge of Alloa No. 69 runners-up.

Special thanks goes to brother Brian Wright P.M. (30), Secretary and his Committee for a really enjoyable day.
