2013 Charity Bowling Competition

The Annual Provincial Grand Lodge Charity Bowling Competition was staged at Menstrie Bowling Club, Menstrie on Sunday 11^th August 2013.

The host Lodge this year was Lodge St. Servanus No 771 who nominated the recipient Charity to be Ochil Leisure Enterprises, Alva.

Once again the weather was kind to the eighteen teams of four that took part. The competition was won by Lodge Loch Lomond No 1483 (F. Robb, G. Cooper, J. Young and D. Bain) who defeated Lodge Craiginnan, Dollar No 850 by 4 shots to 3 in the final. The beaten semi-finalists were The Lodge of Alloa No 69 and Lodge Bannockburn Bruce and Thistle No 312.

Brother John Davidson PM Lodge Bannockburn Bruce and Thistle No 312 threw his bowl nearest to the jack when the half time Spider was played.

Special thanks are due to Lodge St. Servanus No 771 who hosted the event and provided the catering through the Master and Past Masters. They also organised and ran the fundraising raffle. Thanks are also due to Menstrie Bowling Club for providing the venue and to Mr Douglas Skilling, Chairperson of the recipient charity who kindly gave a brief talk on the activities of Ochil Leisure Enterprises and how it came into being. The Provincial Bowling Committee must also be congratulated on their excellent organisation of the event once again.
