Square and Compasses Waving Saltire

50 Years a Member of 176

Well known Denny Mason Bro John MacDonald Hastie, better known as Ian, has been presented with his 50 year Jubilee Certificate.

Ian's application to join Lodge St Andrew (Denny and Loanhead) No 176 was read in the Lodge on 28th January 1965, the earliest possible moment as that was his 18th birthday. He was proposed by his father George and seconded by John McLeod Sneddon, who was Immediate Past Master at the time and of course went on to be Provincial Grand Master.

Ian was 19, a Lewis Mason, when he was initiated on 27th October 1966. He was Passed on 10th November 1966, Raised on 24th November 1966 and Advanced on 27th April 1967.

Ian became a Life Member on 3rd December 1987.

Later Ian was bar/premises manager for over 10 years and awarded Distinguished Service Membership.

Ian was presented with his certificate by RWM Bro Gordon Turnbull, who had Bro Hastie to thank for his introduction to Freemasonry as he was one of his sponsors.

The RWM was accompanied by Right Worship Provincial Grand Master Bro Alistair T Marshall.
