The Provincial Grand Lodge of Stirlingshire |
Masonic history has been made at Lodge St. Andrew No.176 in Denny
when the new Master being installed by his son.
Archie Young Mackay placed his dad Archibald in the Chair of the
Lodge in a superb ceremony attended by 127 masons. Bro. Mackay snr was
previously Master from 1996 to 1998 and is the first Past Master to be
installed for a new term since 1890.
After the ceremony a collection for the benevolent funds of The Grand
Lodge of Scotland raised the sum of £600.
The unique event saw masons from many sister lodges and a large
deputations from the Provincial Grand Lodge of Stirlingshire and the
United Grand Lodge of England.
Brother Mackay senior said: "It was a quite remarkable day and I was
very proud of my son. How he found time to learn all the words required
with a new baby at home is beyond me. He was quite exceptional and that
was the view of all who attended not just me.
"I installed my son as Master in 2018 and there was an even bigger
attendance that day. Due to the pandemic his successor had to serve
three years as Master and some of the office bearers had to take a step
back due to work commitments.
“I am delighted to fill the role again and have the chance to visit
as many lodges in the Province of Stirlingshire as I can this time
round.
“It will hopefully give younger office bearers a chance to have time
to get experience and move up the ranks."
