Square and Compasses Waving Saltire

The French Connection.

Brother Nicol Scobbie PM Lodge Zetland 391, along with his wife Morag, were invited to attend the 70th Anniversary of the Lodge Lafayette No. 51, operating under the Constitution of the G.L.N.F., on Saturday 21st March.

This is a connection which goes back for many years now and it was well supported by Brethren from other French Lodges, in the area. The ceremony which was principally in French, was enhanced by a superb historical tribute to the Lodge by one of their Brethren. The Ceremony was attended by the Provincial Grand Master of Alsace, Brother Cedric Kowlowsky and Past Provincial Grand Master Brother Alain Brau.

After the masonic ceremony, we retired to an excellent restaurant, with the Ladies, where I had the great pleasure and honour to present a Print of Brother Robert Burns, in his regalia, and a brief history of his life and his involvement in the Craft.

The hotel we were accomodated in was one of the oldest and most historic in France. The hospitality was the usual memorable French standard extended to both the visitors and the Ladies.

The city of Strasbourg, itself, is a beautiful city with an outstanding Cathedral, as pictured.

We returned to Scotland after this event with fond memories.
