Fantastic Donation to Strathcarron

Bro David McDonald, a member of Lodge Dolphin No 911, sadly passed away in Strathcarron Hospice in January 2013 at the age of 56 years.

A group of David’ friends and family members resolved to give something back to the Hospice in recognition of the care provided to him. It was decided to undertake a sponsored cycle in the week beginning 2nd September 2013.

Five cyclists, all work colleagues from Network Rail, two family members and two other support staff travelled up to Wick. All succeeded in completing the 314 miles trip in five days finishing at the Hospice in Denny.

Lodge St. Andrew (Denny & Loanhead) No 176 and members of the Lodge supported the venture by providing the hall for the many fundraisers who made a tremendous effort to raise funding and sponsorship.

In addition, the Lodge organised a cabaret night and a prize bingo and donated the proceeds to the cause.

The incredible sum of £12,000.00 was raised and was donated to the Hospice in December 2013.

Below are a few pictures of the Brethren's efforts.
