The Provincial Grand Lodge of Stirlingshire |
The Provincial Grand Lodge of Stirlingshire have raised
enough funds to “pay for a day” at Maggie’s Forth Valley.
As the number of people living with cancer increases it
is essential that they are able to find the practical and emotional support they
need to cope with the changes that life after cancer brings. On average it costs
£2,400 a day for Maggie’s Forth Valley to provide the free practical and
emotional support that really makes a difference to people living with cancer in
the area.
Maggie’s Forth Valley offers a way of living well with
cancer. This includes making sure that people with cancer in the region, as well
as their family and friends, are really listened to, that they are offered
tailored individual support, group support and practical advice, all delivered
by qualified professionals within a space that enables them to meet other people
who understand what it means to be living with cancer too.
As Maggie’s relies almost entirely on voluntary
donations, it is this fantastic support from Groups such as The Provincial Grand
Lodge of Stirlingshire that allows Maggie’s Forth Valley to continue provide
this vital support to people living with cancer.
Marie Manzie, Centre Head at
Maggie’s Forth Valley, said: “We are so grateful that The Provincial Grand Lodge
of Stirlingshire is “paying for a day” at Maggie’s Forth Valley.
Maggie’s Forth Valley relies entirely on
voluntary donations to allow us to keep on developing our unique programme of
support for people living with cancer and to be able to offer that support to
everyone who needs it.”
The Provincial Grand Lodge of
Stirlingshire raised funds to “pay for a day” by holding a charity abseil at the
Falkirk Wheel, a 5 aside football match along with other events.
Nicol Scobbie, Provincial
Grand Secretary of Provincial Grand Lodge of Stirlingshire said: “We are
delighted to have been able to have raised enough to “pay for a day” at Maggie’s
Forth Valley. “It
feels like such a tangible outcome to know that we have provided all the
incredible support, from trained staff to support groups and the tea and coffee
served, on offer to people living with cancer, as well as their family and
friends, for a whole day.”
